I've Added Stamped Metal Jewelry!

Hello!!

Ok I'm very excited... I can finally show you the piece I mentioned  last time!! I decided last fall to add stamped metal jewelry to my repertoire because I LOVE doing custom designs and adding this option gives me soooooo much more freedom to do that for you! You saw my Island Girl test piece which was the very first time I tried stamping:

Well, as is often the case, it's usually a custom order that gets me to find the time to do things :) I didn't want to ruin a surprise because it was a 1st Anniversary gift, but now I can show it to you!!

You might remember the Custom-designed Dolphin Wedding Jewelry Set I made last year for Julz:

Well, this was a 1st Anniversary gift from Julz to Joe to hang in his truck.
~ ♥ ~ Happy Anniversary!! ~ ♥ ~

I'm VERY excited to be working with stamped metal designs so there will be more examples to come!!
I'm working on another one now. I'll have photos soon :)

How about you? Do you like stamped metal jewelry? I'd love to know your thoughts because, after all, I do all this for you. If you're not happy, I'm not happy.... so lemme know!!

Stamped Metal Jewelry is Coming to Designs by Debi

Hello!!

Well, I FINALLY did it. I finally made time to try metal stamping today!

I started buying tools and design stamps last fall because I decided I wanted to add stamped metal jewelry to what I offer at Designs by Debi. I'm fine tuning the focus of my jewelry business and getting ready to upgrade the website. Quite a few new product lines will be added, and there are some things I've decided not to offer anymore.

Stamped metal jewelry is something I've decided to add. It works with my love for designing and making personalized, meaningful jewelry.

Well, I finally tried it today. Here is my very first attempt at stamped metal jewelry.....

Obviously I need a whole lot more practice...LOL... but not bad for a first time! I'll be practicing, learning more techniques and adding to my stamp collection so I'll keep you posted and share my progress with you as I go along :)

It's FuN and I'm really looking forward to doing more of it and having the ability to offer truly personalized designs beyond what can be done with sterling silver letter blocks!

What do you think? Do you like stamped metal jewelry? What do you or don't you like about it? And, most of all, what would you like to see??

I'll be checking back for input ;) Have a great night!

Exploring Handmade ~ Holiday Shopping Event ~ Day 10

Hello and Welcome to Day 10 of the
Exploring Handmade Online Holiday Shopping Event!!

Today is all about Gifts For Pets and the People Who Love Them because today is a very special day... it's Niko's 13th Birthday!! So... he rules the day. Actually, he came home at 6 weeks old and has ruled every day since...LOL. He's the joy of my life and I love him with all my heart. And he has a special treat for you today... he's going to show you HIS favorite gift to get and show you just how to get some for your special pooch. Consider it an insider tip on how to make your dog VERY happy this Christmas :)

But first, let me reintroduce Tricia Hall Baucom of
Endless Possibilities...
You saw Tricia's jewelry on Day 3, but today I want to call special attention to something she does that would make a wonderful gift for any pet lover! She makes her Footprints in the Sand Pendants with PAW prints, too... dog paw prints and cat paw prints. You can have any combo of footprints and paw prints that you'd like!

They're a really great gift and I think it's awesome that Tricia thought of all the pet moms out there. As a matter of fact, with some help from his grandparents, Niko bought me one for Mother's Day and I love it! I don't wear necklaces though, but I'll show you what I did do with it... and it is very special to me.

Here are some of the places you can find Tricia and her work...

I also do a great deal of custom design work for pet lovers
here at Designs by Debi....
You read a bit about me and saw my jewelry on Day 6, but today I want to focus on my pet-related items.

I'm a doggie Mom and when I first started making Personalized Keepsake Bracelets for everyone, I felt left out. Well, I decided that pet Moms count too and made one for myself. Now my Pet Name Keepsake Bracelets are available in 12 styles and 90 possible bead combinations!

I also designed the Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorial Bracelets™ back in 2007 and they're extremely popular. The come in 2 basic styles, but just as with anything else, I specialize in custom designs and I've done many custom memorial bracelets as well. My goal is to make them special, make them with love and give the recipient the opportunity to have a reminder of their pet and the happy memories they shared with them all the time, hopefully bringing them a great deal of comfort.

This year I added 2 new pet products, the Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorial Bracelet for Horses™ and Rainbow Bridge Pet Memorial Key Chains™.

I'm currently in the process of adding even more pet memorial products. I'm working on a custom design for a client that is going to become a new product line and have a few other ideas as well which will be available after the new year, so keep an eye out for those.

Here are some of the places you can find me and my work...

Now I'd like to introduce you to Lisa and Dave of
OBX Puparazzi...
Dave is a self taught woodworker and a disabled veteran. The woodworking is his hobby, and sales keep him in wood and out of trouble! He enjoys creating art from his scroll saw, and does both fretwork like the dog puzzles, and intarsia. Local galleries seek him out for his intarsia pieces.

Lisa is a retired nurse, and loves to sew (hates to iron, though!). She enjoys creating dog bandanas and dog themed goodies for their people. She does craft shows and other dog related events. Both volunteer with local animal charities.

Here are some of the places you can find Lisa and Dave and their work...

And we have Susan and Liz of Fairy Tail Collars...
A Fairy Tail Tale
Once upon a time in a gigantic village called Phoenix there lived a dog named Bella. She was a blue-nosed pit bull puppy who had somehow found her way into a scary place called an animal shelter. She did not understand why she was there locked in a cold and tiny kennel. The other dogs barked and it frightened little Bella. One day a compassionate woman named Susan adopted Bella and took her home to meet her new brother, Pharaoh and her sister, Toula. Bella also became friends with Susan's daughter, Elizabeth, and her four dogs: Duma, Apollo, Merlin and Zeus. Bella learned that her friends and her brother and sister were also adopted or rescued from scary places just like she was. One day when Bella was playing with her friends, she noticed their collars differed from hers and she asked why. Her friends told her that they were a different breed called Greyhounds and their heads are smaller than their necks so it would be easy to slip their heads through a normal dog collar, therefore, they must wear a special collar called a martingale. Bella was enchanted by these special collars and dreamed of having one of her own. Susan searched far and wide for a collar for Bella, but never found just the right color, pattern or size. Susan, a talented seamstress gathered material to handcraft Bella a collar that was fit for a canine queen. Bella was so happy that she begged Susan to take her for a walk so she could show-off her new collar. Many people noticed Bella and asked where Susan found such an eye-catching collar. After many compliments and requests for their own, Susan decided she would make collars for anyone who desired one. She would call her business 'Fairy Tail Collars.' And so it was that Bella, Pharaoh, Toula, Duma, Apollo, Merlin and Zeus wagged their tails happily ever after.

And, finally, it's Niko's turn to take you to his favorite place to shop... We're going to visit Denise at Dogs in Harmony... a "barkery" here in Rhode Island...
Dogs in Harmony is owned by Denise Holmes, a Registered Nurse who absolutely adores dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes! Denise and her husband Bob have been very fortunate to share their lives and home with some extraordinary dogs!!

Max and Ginger, the Holmes's beautiful Golden Retrievers who passed away in 2008 and 2009, were and always will be, the heart and soul of the company. They were the inspiration for Dogs in Harmony and for whom it all began. Ginger had severe allergies and to help ease her symptoms Denise started to make her homemade food and fresh baked treats. It worked so well that the idea for this company was born.

Dogs in Harmony products do not contain any preservatives so each bag is labeled with a “use by or freeze date”. All of the treats freeze well so it is very easy to “stock up”. The treats are hand cut and baked to order. They come in 2 sizes... Regular size 2 1/2 inch heart shape and Mini Bites 1 1/4 inch circle shape.

They also have Healthy Howlers. These were developed to be used with diabetic dogs. They are available only in mini bite size in order to assist with portion control.

Niko absolutely LOVES Dogs in Harmony treats... all flavors... banana/date, peanut butter, ginger snap, blueberry, oatmeal, apple cinnamon, raspberry, applesauce and oatmeal and the Healthy Howlers, too! And he KNOWS that bag....

Niko's birthday is today so on Monday we set out for Dogs in Harmony to buy some birthday gifts! As soon as we opened the door the smell was amazing (even to me!) and Niko was hooked...

See Denise back there... she's baking cookies!

OMG...a treat for me? Now? Oh boy, a peanut butter turkey! Thanx Denise... yum :)

Oooops... I'm making a mess on your floor (good thing I'm cute) :o

It's ok... I'll clean it up :)

Oooooooh more cookies! Yipee... I'll take those to go please  ^_^

Is this mine?!?!

Let's peek...

Oh YEAH.... mine, mine, mine!! Yummy!

Make YOUR puppy happy this Christmas... order some cookies from Denise! You can find her awesome cookies at http://www.DogsInHarmonyRI.com.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing all these great gifts for pets and Niko hopes you enjoyed seeing his barkery! We're going to celebrate his birthday :) Then I'll see you right back here tomorrow with yet more new artisans and great gifts!!

Exploring Handmade ~ Holiday Shopping Event ~ Day 6

Hello and Welcome to Day 6 of the
Exploring Handmade Online Holiday Shopping Event!!

Today I'm going to introduce you to a few more Jewelry Designers showing you even more of the creative range in the art of jewelry design. Enjoy!

First let's meet Jan of Jan Tanis Designs...
You saw Jan's crochet work on Day 2. Well, she's a Jewelry Designer, too!

I am a Self Representing Artist Jewelry Designer (SRAJD), Member #2972, and I LOVE Designing and Making my own HandMade Jewelry and Rosaries. As an Interior Designer, I have had the opportunity to work with Colors and Design, so when I retired from my day job, it was an easy switch to designing and creating Jewelry and Rosaries. My Jewelry is a blend of Old-Fashioned, Romantic and some even say Victorian Styles and my Rosaries would be in that same style. I've always found things to keep me busy and I like that. I've also had a desire to be creative...so why not share some of my God-given talent with others and use my developed talents in another manner. While shopping for beads to make all of my Jewelry and Rosaries, I decided I'd order extras and have them for sale in my Bead Shop, too!

I am a Textile Artist also, working in crochet. I like making my warm, snuggly and gorgeous Hats, Scarves, Fingerless Gloves, Shawls (even Prayer Shawls) and Afghans with Acrylic and Polyester yarns. I've recently added a new yarn that is an Acrylic-Polyester Blend with Mohair and Sequins.

I've also been a seamstress, for the better part of my life and while having my own Bridal Business for several years, I have sewn everything from Wedding Gowns to Window Treatments…so it only figures that there would be patterns and fabric in my Shop, as well!

Here are some of the places you can find Jan and her work...

Now let's meet Beth Rintala of Gemworks by Beth...
I am a Self-Representing Artist Jewelry Designer. SRAJD Member #3324. I personally create each beautiful 'one-of-a-kind' (OOAK) necklace or other jewelry item paying great attention to detail and color. I use only quality Gemstone Beads, Crystals, Pearls, Silver, Copper and Gold, among other high grade beads and materials. I shop for the best quality gemstones, etc. at the best prices.
*I like doing custom work...making your dream piece come true.*

Here are some of the places you can find Beth and her work...

And we have Vickie Barber-Ellis of Sunshine Jewels...
My passion for design and wearable art began at a young age and has been one of the driving forces in my life. It all started in my junior high school shop class, learning to play with fire and hot metal - learning the tools and techniques to make cool jewelry.

I started my first design business in 1982 and while time and life has changed with various jobs and careers, my creativity has been the common thread running throughout. Each jewelry piece you find on my site is a one of a kind creation. I select each element, from the type of metal, chain and gemstones often incorporating elements hand made by other artists. May you find something that brings you as much joy to wear as it brought me in creating it.

Here are some of the places you can find Vickie and her work...

And we have Linda of Bead Bracelets by Linda Gill-Jones...
I started making bead bracelets in 2009 after taking a class at a local craft store to fill some time while I was laid off from my job. I built up and inventory and decided to start up a little business using Etsy.com. Even though I work full time now, it is still a passion of mine to have my small business and be successful at it. I make handmade beaded bracelets, guitar string bracelets, and button & bead brooches. I am from Central New York State, have a wonderful husband who is very supportive and 2 adorable cats, Dallas and Casey.

Here are some of the places you can find Linda and her work...

We also have Felicia of Fish Princess Designs...
I love collecting and making sea glass jewelry. I think every woman should have a jewelry wardrobe that reflects all facets of her life. My jewelry is inspired by nature. I love the outdoors, and in my spare time I'm an avid fly fisherwoman!

And, last but not least, me ~ Debi of Designs by Debi!
I started designing jewelry in 2006 and am self-taught. It all began because I like bangle-style bracelets and wanted beaded bangles. I couldn’t find what I wanted so I decided to see if I could make them myself.

I was on a medical leave of absence from work and found that working with the beads was good therapy. In an effort to expedite my return to my job, I began working with beads and wire every day. A bead obsession quickly developed, along with a whole lot of jewelry!

My Mom loved what I was doing and began wearing my creations to work. The women she works with and patients that go to that office also liked my designs and were inquiring about them. Having learned that I would be unable to return to my career (I was a Radiologic Technologist specialized in Interventional Angiography and CAT Scan), I was delighted with the interest people were showing in my jewelry and the concept for Designs by Debi was born.

I am a Self Representing Artist Jewelry Designer (SRAJD), Member #2978. My jewelry is a mix of precious and non-precious materials including glass beads,Swarovski® Crystals and Pearls, freshwater pearls, shell, cat’s eye, gemstones and fine silver handcrafted in Bali and Thailand. In order by favorites... I design in silver, copper, gunmetal and gold.

I’m fascinated with glass, especially handmade glass. I love using glass artists’ handmade beads in my designs because it makes them unique. And I sometimes make beads using polymer clay. It allows me to produce the colors and patterns that I have in mind for particular pieces, experiment more with my creative side and offer another unique aspect to my jewelry.

I specialize in custom design work. I love to create meaningful jewelry for people and do alot of memorial jewelry.

I have a Signature Collection made with Swarovski® Crystals; anAloha Collection that allows me to celebrate my love for Hawaii, hibiscus, and creating “beachy” designs; and a Hearts Collection made with a variety of Swarovski® Crystal hearts that made its debut at Boston Fashion Week in September 2011.

My jewelry has no particular style. True to my Gemini nature, I love variety and get bored easily. I make lots of different things using many different techniques because I just follow my artistic vision...and there are endless beautiful possibilities. I make all types of jewelry and an ever-growing selection of other beaded items.

I want to be a Philanthropist. That's my ultimate goal in life. So I’m very proud of my Jewelry for Charity Program for which I design a one-of-a-kind piece or set of jewelry every month to benefit a charity selected by me or one of my customers.

I appreciate my customers and the opportunities I have to create beautiful, meaningful jewelry that will be treasured by those lucky enough to receive it. My appreciation is subtly but prominently reflected in my logo...the Designs by Debi™ rose is magenta because dark pink roses symbolize appreciation... Thank You!!

Here are some of the places you can find me and my work...

Enjoy your day and I'll see you right back here tomorrow :)
